A change in environment shapes my imagery.
Meditation increases my awareness of the center of things and the
striking contrast of an isolating periphery.
My process of painting and choice of materials
accommodate an altered sense of place. Movement in brushstroke, shifts
of scale, and color juxtaposition create an environment. The image
evokes a sense of place. Location is felt, but indeterminate.
A modernist aesthetic informs my work. Loosely
improvisational, strong in gesture and brush mark, my painting is
direct, unpredictable. I find it surprising. |
